Aftercare Guidance

EYEBROW AFTERCARE

Proper aftercare is essential to ensure the best healing and long lasting results from your eyebrow permanent make up treatment. Please follow these steps carefully:

First 24 hours:

Gently blot the area with a clean tissue or cotton pad every 30-60 minutes to absorb any excess lymph fluid. Do not wash the area with water or apply any products yet. Avoid touching the brows with unwashed hands.

Day 1-7: Cleanse once daily, use a gentle, fragrance free cleanser (sterile water is fine to use alone without a cleanser) and lukewarm water. Pat dry with a clean tissue – do not rub.

  • Apply a thin layer of ointment as recommended by your artist, using a cotton bud. Do not over apply. A rice grain amount is sufficient.
  • Avoid make up, creams, or skin care products around the treated area.
  • Do not pick, scratch or peel any scabs/flaking that may form. This is a totally normal aspect of the natural healing process.

THINGS TO AVOID FOR 10-14 DAYS:

  • Excessive sweating, vigorous exercise, heavy workouts, saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs.
  • Sun exposure, tanning beds and swimming (salt water and chlorine).
  • Facial treatments, peels or exfoliating products near the treated area.

Healing timeline:

  • Days 1-3: Brows will appear darker and more defined.
  • Days 4-7: Scabbing or flaking may occur on the treated area – this is normal.
  • Days 7-14: This is the ghosting phase where the colour may appear significantly lighter. Again, totally normal and expected.
  • Week 4-6: Brows will have settled into their true colour and are now fully healed.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

The healing process varies and is dependant on multiple factors and is not the same for every person. Be patient and follow the aftercare provided (please note: for clients with diabetes, on medication or with melanin rich skin the healing process may take longer).

A complimentary touch up session is recommended approximately 6 weeks after the initial treatment to perfect the shape/colour and ensure best results.

LIP AFTERCARE

Lip blush aftercare is crucial for ensuring optimal healing and vibrant, long-lasting results. Proper care during the healing process can prevent complications and enhance the final appearance of your lip tattoo.

  • Moisturise Regularly: Apply a thin layer of the recommended ointment (such as Aquaphor or After Inked) using a clean cotton swab. This should be done 3–4 times a day for at least 7 days to keep the lips hydrated and promote healing.
  • Ice Application: To reduce swelling, gently ice your lips for 10 minutes every hour during the first 4–5 hours post-procedure. Ensure the ice is wrapped in a cloth to avoid direct contact with the skin as this can cause a burn.
  • Avoid Touching: Refrain from touching, picking, or scratching your lips to prevent infection and scarring.
  • Dietary Restrictions: Avoid spicy, salty, or hot foods and drinks for the first 5–7 days, as they can irritate the healing tissue.
  • Oral Care: Be gentle when brushing your teeth, and avoid getting toothpaste on your lips.
  • Sun Exposure: Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds, and sun exposure for at least 4 weeks. Once healed, use a lip balm with SPF 30 or higher to protect your lips.
  • Water Exposure: Do not submerge your lips in water (e.g., swimming pools, hot tubs) for at least 7 days.
  • Exercise: Refrain from excessive exercise that promotes sweating for the first 5–7 days to avoid irritation and pigment loss.
  • Cosmetics: Avoid using lipstick, gloss, or other lip products for at least 7 days.
  • Smoking and Alcohol: Limit or avoid smoking and alcohol consumption during the initial healing phase, as they can impair healing and affect pigment retention.

Days 4–14:

  • Continue Moisturizing: Keep applying the recommended ointment to prevent dryness and promote healing.
  • Avoid Picking: Allow any scabs or flaking to shed naturally to prevent scarring and ensure even pigment retention.
  • Dietary Considerations: Continue to avoid spicy, salty, or acidic foods and drinks that can irritate the healing tissue.
  • Monitor Healing: Understand that the healing process involves three phases: too dark, too light, and finally, just right. This progression is normal, and the final colour will settle after about 4 weeks.
  • Touch-Up Appointment: Schedule a follow-up session 6–8 weeks after the initial treatment to assess healing and make any necessary adjustments

EYELINER AFTERCARE

Ointment Application: Apply a miniscule amount of the recommended ointment (e.g., Aquaphor) 2–3 times a day for the first 7 days. Gently wipe off previous ointment applications using a cotton pad and sterile water before applying a new layer.

What to expect:

  • Days 1–3: The eyeliner will appear darker and thicker due to swelling and excess pigment.
  • Days 3–5: Scabbing and flaking may occur. Do not pick or peel the scabs.
  • Days 5–10: The colour may appear lighter as the scabs fall off. This is normal.
  • Days 10–21: The pigment will begin to return as the skin heals.
  • Days 21–42: Full healing occurs, and the final colour settles.

Avoid the following

  • Touching or Scratching: Avoid touching, rubbing, or scratching the treated area to prevent infection and scarring.
  • Water Exposure: Do not get the treated area wet. Avoid hot showers, swimming pools, saunas, and steam rooms for at least 10 days.
  • Sun Exposure: Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks. Once healed, use a high-SPF sunscreen to protect the area.
  • Makeup Application: Do not apply makeup, including mascara and eyeliner, to the treated area for at least 7–10 days.
  • Cosmetic Treatments: Avoid Botox, chemical peels, facials and alternative cosmetic treatments for at least 4 weeks.
  • Contact Lenses: Refrain from wearing contact lenses for at least 24 hours post-procedure.
